Art Workshops That Bring People Together

Get creative, try something new, and make something together.

I'm Erwin Ong, the artist and teaching artist behind A Duck Amuck. I lead hands-on art workshops and creative experiences for children, families, adults, and community groups, partnering with schools, libraries, museums, businesses, and event organizers.

From playful drop-in activities to guided workshops and collaborative projects, I create welcoming opportunities for people to explore materials, express their ideas, and connect through art. No previous art experience required—just a little curiosity and a willingness to give something a try.

Workshops & Creative Experiences

What Are Art Workshops & Creative Experiences?

Art workshops and creative experiences are hands-on opportunities to explore materials, learn new techniques, and make something of your own—often alongside others.

Led by artist and teaching artist Erwin Ong of A Duck Amuck, activities can include paper crafts, collage, button-making, zine-making, cardboard construction, painting, and collaborative art projects.

Programs range from short, drop-in activities at community events to guided workshops and multi-session classes. Each experience can be adapted to the participants' ages, interests, and abilities, as well as the goals of the hosting organization.

Whether participants are discovering a new art form or revisiting something they haven't tried in years, the emphasis is on curiosity, experimentation, and the pleasure of creating together.

Where I Lead Art Workshops

I'm based in White Plains, New York, and lead in-person art workshops and creative experiences throughout Westchester County and nearby communities in New York and Connecticut.

Programs can take place at schools, libraries, museums, community centers, businesses, and event venues. I bring my experience as a teaching artist to each setting, adapting activities to the participants, available space, and goals of the program.

Planning something outside the immediate area? I'm happy to discuss opportunities farther afield, including any additional travel or logistical considerations.

Explore Art Workshops & Creative Activities

From paper crafts, collage, and zine-making to button-making, cardboard construction, painting, and collaborative art projects, there are plenty of ways to get creative together. Some activities are designed as guided workshops where participants learn new techniques and create their own artwork. Others work well as drop-in experiences at festivals, celebrations, and community events, where people can join in at their own pace. Explore the creative activities below, or get in touch to discuss a workshop designed around your group, event, or organization.

Interactive Button-Making Station

Add a creative button-making station to your event! Guests of all ages decorate original artwork or create their own designs, which artist Erwin Ong turns into wearable buttons to take home.

Making Room for Curiosity and Creativity

I believe everyone has the capacity to be creative. You don't need to know how to draw, paint, or build something before joining one of my workshops. You just need a little curiosity and a willingness to try.

My approach combines clear instruction with plenty of room for exploration. I introduce techniques, demonstrate how to work with materials, and encourage participants to experiment, make choices, and put their own ideas into the work. Rather than expecting everyone to create identical finished pieces, I celebrate the different ways people interpret the same creative challenge.

I also believe that making art together creates opportunities for connection. Participants share ideas, learn from one another, and discover new perspectives through the creative process. Whether we're making individual artwork or contributing to a larger collaborative project, I want everyone to feel that their ideas matter and that they have something worthwhile to contribute.

Above all, I aim to create an environment that's welcoming, playful, and encouraging—one where people feel comfortable trying something unfamiliar and discovering what they can make.

From Idea to Creative Experience

Let's Talk About Your Goals

We'll start with a conversation about your group, event, or organization. I'll ask about the participants, their ages and experience levels, the number of people you expect, and what you'd like them to take away from the experience. We'll also discuss your space, schedule, and budget.

Choosing the Right Activity

Based on our conversation, I'll recommend an existing workshop or develop an activity tailored to your needs. We'll consider the materials, techniques, time available, and how participants will engage—whether it's a guided class, a drop-in station, or a collaborative project.

Planning & Preparation

Once we've agreed on the workshop, I'll coordinate the creative materials, equipment, setup requirements, and program details with you. We'll also discuss any assistance needed, especially for larger groups or events with ongoing participation.

Let's Make Something!

On the day of the workshop, I'll introduce the activity, demonstrate techniques, and guide participants through the creative process. I'll encourage experimentation, answer questions, and help everyone bring their own ideas to life.

For multi-session programs, we'll follow a planned sequence of activities that gives participants opportunities to build on what they've learned and explore new creative possibilities over time.

Workshop Pricing & What's Included

Workshop pricing varies depending on the type of activity, length of the program, number of participants, materials, location, and level of customization.

Each proposal considers both the time spent leading the workshop and the planning and preparation involved. Depending on the activity, pricing may also include art materials, specialized equipment, and setup or breakdown time.

Some workshops can be adapted from activities I've already developed, while others are designed specifically for your group, organization, or event.

If you have a particular budget in mind, please share it when you reach out. I'm happy to discuss the options and recommend an approach that fits your goals and available resources.

Workshop Scheduling & Lead Times

Workshops can range from short drop-in activities to individual classes lasting one or more hours, as well as multi-session programs that meet over several weeks.

The ideal duration depends on the activity, participants, and goals of the program. Some experiences work well as flexible, ongoing stations where guests can participate throughout an event, while others benefit from a scheduled session with time for instruction, exploration, and creating finished artwork.

I recommend getting in touch as early as possible, particularly for larger groups, customized activities, or programs requiring specialized materials.

Have an event coming up soon? Feel free to ask about availability. Depending on the schedule and activity, an existing workshop may be adaptable to a shorter planning timeline.
